Antur Waunfawr is celebrating after being awarded Health and Social Care social enterprise of the year at the Social Business Wales Award ceremony in the City Hall, Cardiff.

The Social Business Wales Awards are delivered by Wales Coop, with the aim of highlighting social businesses in Wales which are making a significant economic and social impact. The event was hosted by Wynne Evans, one of the UK’s leading tenors and TV and radio host, and special speakers at the event included Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure, Ken Skates AM.

The Health and Social Care award was sponsored by BIC Innovation, and Antur Waunfawr scooped the award for its work in providing work and training opportunities for adults with learning disabilities. The social enterprise received a grant from the Integrated Care Fund and has since established a regular programme of activities including cycling, fitness classes, horse-riding and more, which focus on improving health and wellbeing.

Stephen Goodwin, services manager at Antur Waunfawr, said: “We’re delighted to have won another prestigious award, and to be recognised for the support we provide for adults with learning disabilities. The regular programme of activities has really made a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of the individuals, and we’re looking forward to developing these opportunities with our new Beics Antur project at Porth yr Aur, Caernarfon.”
