Antur Waunfawr has been shortlisted for a top national award following the charity’s success at the Social Business Wales awards delivered by Wales Coop, in Cardiff City Hall this year.

Antur Waunfawr provides work and training opportunities for adults with learning disabilities in north Wales, and scooped the award for Welsh Health & Social Care Social Enterprise of the year in September. As a result, the charity has been shortlisted for the Health & Social Care Award at the prestigious UK Social Enterprise Awards in London.

The ceremony will take place at London’s Guild Hall on 28 November, and will be hosted by award-winning stand up comedian Mark Watson. The awards recognise organisations for their business excellence and contribution to society, and also offers social enterprises the opportunity to network with their peers and sector leaders.

Antur Waunfawr has been shortlisted following its dedication to improving the health and well-being of adults with learning disabilities. The social enterprise received a grant from the Integrated Care Fund in 2017 and has since established a regular programme of activities including cycling, fitness classes, horse-riding and more.

Menna Jones, chief executive at Antur Waunfawr, said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for this top UK award. It is testament to the dedication of our staff who work so hard to provide a top quality care service for adults with disabilities in their community.”
