The Housing Project
- Established in 1996 to provide support for adults with
learning disabilities in the Waunfawr and Caernarfon area.
The project
provides 24 hour support for a number of learning disabled adults. This includes,
support in the home, day support, support for leisure
activities and support for going on holidays. Other
learning disabled adults supported by Antur also benefit from these services namely
the leisure and holiday service.The aim of the project is to ensure that all of the tenants
in the project receive support of the highest standard
possible.
FINANCE:
The project receives funding from 3 sources:
Supporting People Unit – Cyngor Gwynedd
Supporting People is a Welsh Assembly Government programme
that helps to fund housing support services for people who
are considered to be vulnerable. The support offered helps
people to get and to keep their own homes.
Care in
the Community – Cyngor Gwynedd
A department of Cyngor Gwynedd helping people towards a
better way of life. This normally involves helping the
individual with additional support to stay at home.
Independent Living Fund (ILF)
The Independent Living Funds were set up as a national
resource dedicated to the financial support of disabled
people to enable them to choose to live in the community
rather than in residential care.

THE HOMES
The
project currently operates 4 homes. We try to ensure that all the tenants are
actively involved in the running of their home, helping with the
cooking and cleaning etc.
THE SERVICES
We can
offer all the following services under the Supporting People
programme and the ILF scheme:
Day Service:
We
provide day support in the workplace in places like Antur Waunfawr
and Menter Fachwen amongst other places or in the home for those who
have retired or are only working on a part time basis.
Leisure Service:
We
provide additional support for recreational activities such as
shopping, swimming, dancing, going to the cinema or whatever the
service users enjoys doing.
Group Activities.
We also arrange many group activities. A chance for service users,
their friends and colleagues to participate in a variety of social
and recreational activities such as, group hiking, theatre
performances, football and rugby matches etc.
Holiday Service:
The
company ensures that everyone has at least one annual holiday either
at home or abroad. The project can therefore arrange holidays and
weekend breaks by train, air, boat or bus and can ensure appropriate
staffing to accompany the service user. We also arrange group
holidays from time to time and any new service users will be welcome
to join the rest of the group.
Training:
Antur
Waunfawr is committed to the development of all individuals, and
operates a variety of social, educational and development programmes
for the benefit of all concerned.
RIGHTS OF OUR SERVICE USERS:
• Every tenant has a right to access all the information
that is written about them.
• Every tenant has a right to a service where they converse
in a language of their choice.
• Every tenant has a right to confidentiality.
• Every tenant has a right to personal choice.
• Every tenant has a right to a high standard of service.
• Every tenant has a right to complain about the service
they receive.
• Every tenant has a right to be present in all reviews and
meetings about them.
• Every tenant has a right to an advocate if they choose.
• Every tenant has a right to an opinion on staffing issues.
• Every tenant has a right to a relationship and information
on sex education.
• Every tenant has a right to an annual holiday.
EVERY SERVICE USER HAS THE RIGHT TO FULLY PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY
LIFE.
