Antur Waunfawr is a company that runs a number of projects and services that aim to utilise the skills of its workers to their full potential to recycle and re-use and serve people within their local community. The initiative supports people with learning difficulties to develop their skills and integrate them into the workforce.  Projects include the Warws Werdd (Green warehouse) furniture bank to enable re-use of resources; Caergylchu recycling centre; Bryn Pistyll, which provides a nature park, gardens, shop and craft projects to integrate people into the workforce; and a housing project which provides residential support and leisure amenities for people with learning difficulties.  The work of Antur Waunfawr contributes to sustainable development by: Integrating people with learning difficulties into the community Teaching, training and nurturing new skills Providing a ‘green’ service to local people Supporting the local economy Supporting and protecting the local environment Networking with and supporting other local community initiatives Working in a way that respects and supports the local language, culture and heritage The company has benefited from ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) and LRF (Local Regeneration Fund) funding which enabled it to build a ‘green’ building which has provided a sustainable funding source for the initiative. The company has also received support from the wider community, the Welsh Development Agency, and Cylch as well as having undertaken contractual work for Gwynedd Council.
